Prof. Sunwoo is currently the president of CONTROLWORKS Co. in Seoul and a chair professor at the Department of Automotive Convergence at Korea University in Seoul, Korea. Before moving to Korea University in 2021, he was with Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea as a distinguished professor since 1993 and the director of the Research Institute of ACELAB (Automotive Control and Electronics Lab) at Hanyang University. Before joining Hanyang University, he worked for GM Research Lab in Warren, Michigan, for around ten years. His primary research interest is designing and implementing distributed real-time control systems for autonomous vehicles. He has published more than 450 research papers and has written six Engineering Textbooks regarding Automotive Electronics. He is an Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and was an Advisor of the Presidential Advisory Council on Science & Engineering, a Fellow member of SAE International.
